Some of these events were characterized by large changes in species abundance rather than their first or last occurrences. Changes in relative abundances of planktonic foraminifers were compared to the color reflectance and magnetostratigraphic records measured at this site. We obtained astronomical ages for all these events through calibration to the isotope timescale.
