There are few chemical sensors for deep sea use and their accuracy and resolution are not satisfying for the purpose of chemical oceanography. ISFET (Ion Sensitive Field Effect Transistor) is a semiconductor that can measure ion concentrations in aqueous media. Since the ion selectivity of ISFET depends on the membrane attached onto its surface, H (super +) , P (sub CO2) , Ca (super +) , K (super +) and Na (super +) can be measured when proper ion sensitive membranes are used. Furthermore, the silicon chip technology will make it possible to develop the integrated chemical analysis system using ISFET sensor and micro actuator. In this article, we introduce an in situ pH sensor newly developed using ISFET and present its possible application to oceanography.</gco:CharacterString>
<status><MD_ProgressCode codeList="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#MD_ProgressCode" codeListValue="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#MD_ProgressCode_completed">completed</MD_ProgressCode></status><descriptiveKeywords><MD_Keywords><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Hydrochemistry</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Oceanography</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>applications</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>carbon</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>chemical composition</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Deep Sea Drilling Project</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>deep-sea environment</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>geochemical cycle</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>geochemistry</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>in situ</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>ion sensitive field effect transistor</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>ISFET</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Japan Sea</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>marine environment</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>North Pacific</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Northwest Pacific</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Pacific Ocean</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>pH</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>sea water</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>West Pacific</gco:CharacterString></keyword></MD_Keywords></descriptiveKeywords><language><gco:CharacterString>Japanese</gco:CharacterString></language><topicCategory><MD_TopicCategoryCode>geoscientificInformation</MD_TopicCategoryCode></topicCategory><extent><EX_Extent><geographicElement><EX_GeographicBoundingBox><westBoundLongitude><gco:Decimal>127.1500</gco:Decimal></westBoundLongitude><eastBoundLongitude><gco:Decimal>142.0000</gco:Decimal></eastBoundLongitude><southBoundLatitude><gco:Decimal>34.0000</gco:Decimal></southBoundLatitude><northBoundLatitude><gco:Decimal>45.0000</gco:Decimal></northBoundLatitude></EX_GeographicBoundingBox></geographicElement><geographicElement><EX_GeographicDescription><geographicIdentifier><MD_Identifier><code><gco:CharacterString>Japan Sea</gco:CharacterString></code></MD_Identifier></geographicIdentifier></EX_GeographicDescription></geographicElement></EX_Extent></extent></MD_DataIdentification></identificationInfo></MD_Metadata>
