The relationship between the content of CO (sub 2) in the atmosphere, which reflects volcanic activity and species diversity of foraminifers, was examined. Against the background of the general reduction in diversity, the maximum number of foraminifers species was found in the Oxfordian and Kimmeridgian of the Late Jurassic, in the Lower and Middle Maestrichtian of the Late Cretaceous, and in the Eocene of the Paleogene, i.e., during the periods with high concentrations of CO (sub 2) .</gco:CharacterString>
<status><MD_ProgressCode codeList="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#MD_ProgressCode" codeListValue="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#MD_ProgressCode_completed">completed</MD_ProgressCode></status><descriptiveKeywords><MD_Keywords><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Stratigraphy</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Invertebrate paleontology</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Atlantic Ocean</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>biogeography</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>biologic evolution</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>carbon dioxide</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Cenozoic</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Deep Sea Drilling Project</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>distribution</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Foraminifera</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Holocene</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Invertebrata</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Jurassic</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Mesozoic</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>microfossils</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>North Atlantic</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>paleo-oceanography</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>paleoatmosphere</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>paleoclimatology</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>paleoenvironment</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>paleotemperature</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Phanerozoic</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>preservation</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Protista</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>quantitative analysis</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Quaternary</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>species diversity</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>upper Phanerozoic</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>volcanism</gco:CharacterString></keyword></MD_Keywords></descriptiveKeywords><language><gco:CharacterString>English</gco:CharacterString></language><topicCategory><MD_TopicCategoryCode>geoscientificInformation</MD_TopicCategoryCode></topicCategory><extent><EX_Extent><geographicElement><EX_GeographicBoundingBox><westBoundLongitude><gco:Decimal>-80.0000</gco:Decimal></westBoundLongitude><eastBoundLongitude><gco:Decimal>20.0000</gco:Decimal></eastBoundLongitude><southBoundLatitude><gco:Decimal>0.0000</gco:Decimal></southBoundLatitude><northBoundLatitude><gco:Decimal>75.0000</gco:Decimal></northBoundLatitude></EX_GeographicBoundingBox></geographicElement><geographicElement><EX_GeographicDescription><geographicIdentifier><MD_Identifier><code><gco:CharacterString>North Atlantic</gco:CharacterString></code></MD_Identifier></geographicIdentifier></EX_GeographicDescription></geographicElement></EX_Extent></extent></MD_DataIdentification></identificationInfo></MD_Metadata>
