The NP-28 reflection profiles are characterized by a prominent composite reflection package directly above the discontinuity (referred as the Lomonosov Unconformity) emphasizing the importance of this stratigraphic break. The ACEX 2004 drilling on the Ridge on the AWI-91090 reflection profile, showed that the low-velocity sediments are Cenozoic. A hiatus (or several hiati) occur in the middle Miocene to the middle Eocene interval at c100-200 m bsl and is traceable on most of the seismic sections. The prominent composite reflection package above the Lomonosov Unconformity formed in the late Paleocene - early Eocene. Below the Unconformity, sedimentary rocks have a Mesozoic or even older age. The top of the acoustic basement on NP-28 sections is marked by strong reflections. Some less regular deeper reflections are traceable within this basement. New seismic reflection data were collected in the central part of the Lomonosov Ridge near the North Pole by the HOTRAX'05 expedition. This central part of the Ridge has a saddle point which includes an interior basin. Preliminary results of processing the data are presented, illustrating the structure of the sedimentary cover in the basin and on surrounding ridges.</gco:CharacterString>
<status><MD_ProgressCode codeList="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#MD_ProgressCode" codeListValue="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#MD_ProgressCode_completed">completed</MD_ProgressCode></status><descriptiveKeywords><MD_Keywords><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Applied geophysics</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Arctic Coring EXpedition</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Arctic Ocean</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Arctic region</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Cenozoic</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Expedition 302</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>geophysical methods</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Integrated Ocean Drilling Program</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Lomonosov Ridge</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>low-velocity zones</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>North Pole</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>reflection methods</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>sedimentary cover</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>seismic methods</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>Tertiary</gco:CharacterString></keyword><keyword><gco:CharacterString>unconformities</gco:CharacterString></keyword></MD_Keywords></descriptiveKeywords><aggregationInfo><MD_AggregateInformation><aggregateDataSetIdentifier><RS_Identifier><code><gco:CharacterString>urn:org.iodp:exp:302</gco:CharacterString></code><codeSpace><gco:CharacterString>urn</gco:CharacterString></codeSpace></RS_Identifier></aggregateDataSetIdentifier><associationType><DS_AssociationTypeCode codeList="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#DS_AssociationTypeCode" codeListValue="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#DS_AssociationTypeCode_largerWorkCitation">largerWorkCitation</DS_AssociationTypeCode></associationType><initiativeType><DS_InitiativeTypeCode codeList="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#DS_InitiativeTypeCode" codeListValue="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/resources/Codelist/gmxCodelists.xml#DS_InitiativeTypeCode_campaign">campaign</DS_InitiativeTypeCode></initiativeType></MD_AggregateInformation></aggregationInfo><language><gco:CharacterString>English</gco:CharacterString></language><topicCategory><MD_TopicCategoryCode>geoscientificInformation</MD_TopicCategoryCode></topicCategory><extent><EX_Extent><geographicElement><EX_GeographicBoundingBox><westBoundLongitude><gco:Decimal>-180.0000</gco:Decimal></westBoundLongitude><eastBoundLongitude><gco:Decimal>180.0000</gco:Decimal></eastBoundLongitude><southBoundLatitude><gco:Decimal>70.0000</gco:Decimal></southBoundLatitude><northBoundLatitude><gco:Decimal>90.0000</gco:Decimal></northBoundLatitude></EX_GeographicBoundingBox></geographicElement><geographicElement><EX_GeographicDescription><geographicIdentifier><MD_Identifier><code><gco:CharacterString>Arctic Ocean</gco:CharacterString></code></MD_Identifier></geographicIdentifier></EX_GeographicDescription></geographicElement><geographicElement><EX_GeographicDescription><geographicIdentifier><MD_Identifier><code><gco:CharacterString>North Pole</gco:CharacterString></code></MD_Identifier></geographicIdentifier></EX_GeographicDescription></geographicElement></EX_Extent></extent></MD_DataIdentification></identificationInfo></MD_Metadata>
